During my time at Twenty20, I worked on a few types of internet marketing projects, including blogging, social media marketing, and email campaigns. One of my most successful projects was the ShootLA social media contest.
I used social media as a marketing initiative to expand our photo catalog and raise brand awareness by running a contest where the winner received an all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles. Once I promoted the giveaway on the company’s social media channels, contestants learned about the different tasks they could complete in order to receive more entries and increase their chances of winning; contestants could enter by following us on Instagram, reposting our contest announcement photo on social media, sharing a unique link to encourage friends and followers to enter the contest, and submitting their best photo to a Twenty20 challenge.
As a result of this contest, the company’s Instagram following grew exponentially, the number of new Twenty20 users skyrocketed and, more importantly, the average number of daily photo uploads increased– surpassing the campaign goal by more than double within 13 days.
The winner of the contest was Thompson, a very talented photographer from New York. I collaborated with him on a blog post about his photo adventure in Los Angeles, which continued to gain attraction for months.
